I Didn’t Move Abroad to Escape. I Moved to Expand.

The Melanin Blueprint — Issue No. 1

When I moved to Costa Rica, I wasn’t running away from something.
I was running toward something that didn’t have language yet.
Freedom. Restoration. Maybe even a rebirth.

I didn’t know what it would look like.
I just knew I couldn’t keep pretending that survival was enough.

This is The Melanin Blueprint—a space where I’m tracing the outlines of a life I wasn’t handed but chose to build. A life that centers Black joy, soft power, sovereignty, and the nuance of living between cultures and countries.

You won’t find 5-step checklists here.
You’ll find real moments:

I’ll share pieces of my journey as a veteran, mother, wife, and founder—living in multiple countries, choosing ease without apology, and guiding others to do the same through Melanin Tours.

And I’ll introduce you to people like Kim—who turned a 4-day scouting trip into the keys to her new life in Costa Rica.

This isn’t vacation content.
It’s a blueprint for becoming.

Welcome to the soft, expansive, deeply intentional next chapter.

Let’s begin.
